Who we are
Noor Kitchen (noor-kitchen.com) is Chef Noor's recipe website, from the chef's kitchen in Riyadh.
This page explains, in plain words, what the site knows about you when you read a recipe, rate one or send us a message — and what it doesn't.
What we collect, and why
When you send us a message: the contact form asks for your name, a phone number and your message, plus an email address if you like. We keep these so we can read your message and reply to you — nothing else.
Messages are saved in the site's database, hosted by Cloudflare. Only the site's admins can read them, in a private dashboard that needs a verified sign-in (Cloudflare Access). We don't add you to any mailing list, and the form sends no automatic emails.
When you rate a recipe: we save the recipe, the stars you chose and the time. So that each connection gets one vote per recipe, we also save a code calculated from your internet (IP) address; the address itself is never stored. The same code caps ratings at 20 an hour, which keeps automated vote-flooding out.
What we don't collect
No accounts, no sign-ups and no payments.
No advertising or tracking cookies, and no tracking pixels from Facebook, Google or anyone else.
We don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone for marketing.
We don't build a profile of you, and we don't know who you are unless you tell us through the contact form.
Visitor statistics (no cookies)
To see which recipes people enjoy and how fast pages load, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts visits without cookies and without storing anything on your device.
What we see are totals: page views, which pages, the site that sent you (Instagram or Google, for example), country, type of device and browser, and loading-speed measurements. We see no names or contact details, and we can't pick out an individual visitor.
Cookies and local storage
The site sets exactly one cookie of its own: nk_lang. It remembers whether you last browsed in Arabic or English, so the main address (noor-kitchen.com) opens in your language. It holds only "ar" or "en" and expires after a year.
Before that cookie exists, the language is picked from the country Cloudflare detects for your connection and your browser's language setting. That happens on the spot and nothing is saved.
When you rate a recipe, your browser keeps your star choice in its local storage (under "nk-rate:" and the recipe's name), so your stars are still lit next time. It stays on your device.
You can delete the cookie and local storage whenever you like in your browser settings; the site works just the same without them.
Cloudflare's sign-in cookies only reach people who open the private admin dashboard. Cloudflare, which protects the site, may also add a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor isn't a bot.
Services we rely on
Cloudflare hosts the whole site: the pages, the database for messages and ratings, the photos (served from cdn.noor-kitchen.com, which also resizes them for your screen), the visitor statistics and the admin sign-in. Like any web host, Cloudflare's servers handle your IP address to deliver each page.
The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser downloads them from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Google receives your IP address and browser details with that request, and Google's own privacy policy applies.
When a video card comes from YouTube, its thumbnail picture loads from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com).
Links to other sites
The site links to Chef Noor's Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook, and to the websites of our sponsors and partners; the share buttons on recipes open WhatsApp, Facebook, Pinterest, Telegram or X. These are ordinary links: apart from the YouTube thumbnails mentioned above, nothing from those services loads on our pages until you tap one.
Videos open on the platform they were posted on instead of playing inside our pages. Once you leave noor-kitchen.com, that site's own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep things
Messages: until an admin deletes them — nothing is deleted automatically. Ask us and we'll delete yours. We also keep private backups of the database, so a deleted message can remain in a backup for a while.
Ratings: they stay with the recipe's rating and aren't deleted automatically.
The nk_lang cookie: one year. Your star choice on your device: until you clear it in your browser.
Visitor statistics: kept by Cloudflare as totals in our account, for as long as Cloudflare keeps them.
Cloudflare also keeps short-lived technical logs of requests to the site, which help us find and fix errors.
Your choices, and how to reach us
Email us at the address below to ask what we hold from your message, or to have it corrected or deleted. We'll reply as soon as we can.
To change your rating, tap a different star. Because we only keep that code, we can't look up a vote by your name.
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time.
Children
Noor Kitchen is a family cooking site for a general audience. It isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect children's information. If you think a child has sent us a message, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this page
